The maximum strength of a wonder starts at something like 250k and as the round progresses, this maximum goes up until it hits the cap of either 1 or 2 million hit points. This is just the most hit points it could have. The amount of hit points it will have is determined by how much damage your realm does to it.

If realm 100 has a wonder with 100000 hit points, and realm 101 attacks it and destroys it, realm 101 gets it for 200000 hit points or the current hit point max. If the current max were only 150000, that is what it would have instead. Now, lets say realm 101 only does 90000 points of damage to it and realm 102 attacks it and destroys it. Realm 102 gets the wonder, but it only has 20000 hit points.

If you destroy a wonder in realm 0, it will always start with its maximum possible hit points. If you already have a wonder and you destroy another wonder, the second wonder goes back to realm 0.

Wonders take damage based on your unmodified offense power. If you have 1000 smashers (strength 7), you do 7000 points of damage to it no matter what kind of offensive bonuses you have. Gnome juggernauts count as strength 5 vs. wonders. I believe you take 5% casualties when attacking a wonder.

Wonders are nice to have, but you need to balance out your losses with the expected benefits. For example, there is no sense in a WE wasting a bunch of units attacking the Gnomish Mining Machine unless there are a lot of gnomes in the realm that can kick butt. You also need to find one that you can take quickly. It does you no good to attack a wonder a few times only to have another realm take it. You should also remember that attacking a wonder does not gain you any land, so time spent getting a wonder is time spent falling behind everyone else.

I have been in a top 20 realm that never once had a wonder. I have been in the #2 realm which only had one wonder. I've even been in realm that was at the bottom of the top 100 and had three wonders. My opinion is if you can find one that can be snatched really easily, take it, but otherwise don't get distracted. In the very beginning, attack the wonders in realm 0 with your left over troops, but don't give up targets just to go for a wonder. IMO 10 acres is worth more than a shot at a wonder.
