Quick Question on Homes
replied on: 6/29/2003 5:31:40 AM (Non home + no rax building) * 15 * your popbonus = y (Non home + no rax building) * 20 = X (with those Peasants you would have max. income + your max Employment) Normaly X is higher than Y. This deviation you have to full up with homes. X-Y = Z (Peasants you are missing to get max. income) Z/ 30(home) * your pop bonus = homes you need This just work if all yout troops are in the barracks. |

Quick Question on Homes
replied on: 7/1/2003 11:15:17 AM This is more for attackers than explorers, but its a highly related topic. Watch your pop bonus real close when it comes time to build either homes or barracks. Most of us have seen that you need a 1.26666666% pop bonus for a home to house 38 people. Everyone claims that this is the point at which it is more efficient to build homes than barracks. However, if your pop bonus is 30%, you house only 39 peasants in a home VS. 38 troops in a barracks. Assuming you have a 25% plat bonus, that 1 extra peasant is going to make you a "massive" 3.375 extra plat per hour. If your rezone cost is 1500 plat per acre, it will take 444.4444 hours (18+ days) for you to regain the money that was spent on rezoning the hill into a home. I'm pretty sure that we would all rather have 1 or 2 more attackers now than an extra 3 plat per hour 3 weeks from now, so pay attention to your pop bonus. My opinion is that once your pop bonus gets over 16.6666%, don't bother rezoning homes into hills, and once your bonus is over 36.6666%, start rezoning hills into homes. This of course will vary based on your plat bonus, rezoning cost, and probably some other things I'm forgetting, but it should be a good rule of thumb. |

Quick Question on Homes
replied on: 7/1/2003 12:37:42 PM I just made a spreadsheet that lets you see how many hours it will take for rezoning to be beneficial with pop and plat bonuses up to 100%. You find it here. I tried to just make a web page from the data, but it turned into a 2.5 meg file, so I scrapped that idea. |

Quick Question on Homes
replied on: 7/1/2003 3:48:18 PM for what its worth i generally put my bonus into homes and rezone conquered land to rax if i didnt already get enuff hills. as it stands, i overbuilt homes in the 1000s when i was hitting lizzies and merfs religiously, and now i have a few too many homes and a few too few rax on account of having gotten a small keep bonus |
