| J-Roc[LoC] Quote | Reply | | GNs posted on: 6/30/2003 10:12:22 AM i see their use varied. some top guys are packing a huge amount to give an enormous OP advantage that few cna defend against. te spuds have bee nrazing/rebuilding. some players keep a modest amount. Tim, the sheet's been telling me smithies are teh way to go all round so far. id never touch a GT b/c of my efficient levi, but of course GN holds som promise for the kraken. still, like i said, smithy always comes out on top in the effic calc. my OP is mediocre i guess, nowhere near the top, but enuff to hit 70%. are GNs a whole round thing, or a short term boost that will come back to hurt you later? im pretty lost on whether i should start splitting smithy-GN, or stay heavy smithy until the time comes for facts much later. talk to me tim! |

replied on: 6/30/2003 3:15:31 PM im aiming for 25% gn's to give me a big boost. aiming for 20% shrines to save on lost troop costs as lizardmen are expensive but mite change them to gt's that'll give any would be attacker a nice surprise! |

replied on: 7/1/2003 11:00:48 AM Those big spuds have a very low draft rate, and at low draft rates, there isn't a whole lot of difference between smiths and GNs. They are using them to pole vault ahead of everyone, and so long as they stay ahead of everyone, it's going to work great for them. If they fall behind, they would have been better off building smithies. If you're up among them, do like the Romans do and build Gns. If, like me, you aren't anywhere near them, stick with what is efficient so you can catch up late round. |

replied on: 7/1/2003 3:50:57 PM tim, did you say that right when you said they had a "low" draft rate? ive heard they're *very* low on peasants. im sitting on 3k acres atm which is close to up there, but as im playing a "late round" race im hesitant to go for speed. |

replied on: 7/2/2003 10:08:57 PM You cant say: "Those big spuds have Gn or smithies" They have both!!!! They destroy, rezone and build new 50% of their land. 2-3 times until now, thats why they have the troops AND the offence! Some other big players doing so too. Amazing strat, damn i didnt had that idea! |

replied on: 7/7/2003 2:50:19 PM I just saw ops on one guy who was rebuilding something like 50% of his land. I find it hard to beleive that that's efficient or economical. |

replied on: 7/9/2003 11:36:29 AM I've been thinking about the R/R strat, and it is really just a variation of converting from explorer to attacker. The few examples I've seen involve stockpiling huge sums of money and other resources, so it would be helpful to have a high SPA which suggests that this strat would favor halfers and lizzies. |
