I originally thought that barracks didn't hold any peasants, but I have proven myself wrong. I just built 23 barracks, and my max peasant population went from 32962 to 33224. That's and increase of 262 peasants. I haven't done anything else like investing gems or anything. I can say with certainty that the only change was building the barracks. This is odd though because It works out to 11.3913... peasants per acre. Don't normal buildings under construction hold 15 people? I do have a -5% pop penalty, but my keep is 17.08% and my prestige is 338. Actually, if I assume a barracks under construction holds 10 people, it almost works out: 10 times my pop mods 10 * (1+.1708-.05) = 11.208 and prestige is added in after the fact: 11.208 * 338/25000 = 11.3595... multiply that by 23 and you get: 261.2692... I think that should be rounded to 261, but I have heard that dom rounds up. I don't think this is true always, but maybe it is always true for some certain things like population. I know its true for determining guard ranges. Anyone have any thoughts? |

Barren Land for Halflings, Dwarves, Goblins, Kobolds and Gnomes house 10 people, while the other race's Barren Land house only 5." I hope I'm not being totally naive here, but I think it's not the barracks that house your 10 peasants, it's the barren land. |

replied on: 5/17/2003 6:46:38 PM Except I'm not one of "Those" races.  Playing a Troll for my first time ever this round, so I should only have five per acre. And I know my barracks don't hold any peasants once they're constructed, but they obviously hold some while under constructed. I'll have to see if other buildings create the same number of peasants under construction the next time I attack. |

replied on: 5/19/2003 5:33:37 PM do ordinary buildings hold troops i cant remember? but if the did then as u build barracks ur troops would move to barracks freein up room for more peasants? |

replied on: 5/20/2003 5:03:58 AM ALL land in building houses a total of 15 peasants+popmods. You gained 10 raw peasants, as barren land for your race houses 5 raw peasants, and you already gained that before you build the barracks. |
