UNNEWS
replied on: 5/1/2005 3:04:41 AM This was in the days before the fax and email. A newspaper in London was concerned about the lack of news from its correspondent in Australia. So they sent him a telegram. International telegrams being costly, they decided to save words by using "un-" instead of "no". The telegram ran, "Why unnews?" The Australia correspondent telegraphed back jokingly, "Unnews good news." The London office sent him this telegram in return, "Unnews unjob." |
