    Alchemies better than lumberyards, maybe

Elephantman, I made the same mistake last round. I was sure that alchs were better than lumberyards for every race. I forgot to account for the 15 people that would be employed by a lumberyard though.

Alchs used to be better than lumberyards for firewalkers, but not anymore. Now, assuming a 15% plat bonus, it takes 57 hours for an alch to outproduce a lumberyard. Even with a 25% bonus, it still takes 38 hours.

    Lumber

    Lumber Rot
    = [Lumber Stockpile]*0.01
    Lumber Production
    = 50*[Lumber Yards]*[Total Lumber Production Mods%]

[Total Lumber Production Mods%] includes: Racial, Foresters Touch, Gaias Blessing

    Platinum

    Total Plat Production
    =(2.7*[Peasants]*[Employment] + (40 + [Racial Alchemy Bonus])*[Alchemys])*[Total Plat Mods%]

[Employment] this has a max of 100% even with the great market, which increases the number of peasants employed per building not employment directly
[Racial Alchemy Bonus] currently only Firewalker self spell, Alchemist Flame - Increases alchemy production by 20 platinum. Which becomes modded by Technological advancements.
[Total Plat Mods] includes: Improvements, Midas Touch, Bankers Foresight (tech), Wonders, Racial, Monarchy, Treasuries

Crazy I know, but here goes. Let's say you have 100 lumberyards, they each produce 45(race does -10%) lumber, that's 4500 lumber. 100 Alchemies with Alchemist Flame makes 6000 plat total, go to the bank and you get 3000 lumber for it. Lumberyard the clear winner.

    BUT...

Try waiting 12 hours before you use the lumber. Please be patient with this, I'm not a mathematician or an accountant so I don't know how to make it a simple formula. I'd don't know what Ross does with decimals so I rounded.

Hour 1: 4500 lumber from lumberyards

    Hour 2: 4500 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 4050 + 4500(hourly rate) = 8550

    Hour 3: 8550 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 7695 + 4500 = 12195

    Hour 4: 12195 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 10976 + 4500 = 10976

    Hour 5: 10976 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 9878 + 4500 = 14378

    Hour 6: 14378 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 12940 + 4500 = 17440

    Hour 7: 17440 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 15696 + 4500 = 20196

    Hour 8: 20196 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 18176 + 4500 = 22676

    Hour 9: 22676 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 20408 + 4500 = 24908

    Hour 10: 24908 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 22417 + 4500 = 26917

    Hour 11: 26917 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 24225 + 4500 = 28725

    Hour 12: 28725 Stockpiled lumber X .9 = 25853 + 4500 = 30353

30353 lumber from 100 lumberyards in 12 hours.

    Now alchemies 100 x 60(spell) x 12(hours) = 72000 plat / 2 (bank)= 36000 Lumber from alchemies in 12 hours!

It's just like compound interest on investments only reverse.

It's true with all races, just not as noticeable. If you find yourself converting lumber to plat or sitting on stockpiles that don't get used up quickly, maybe you would be better off with less lumberyards and convert plat to lumber when you get a ton of land coming in.
