You know what I heard? I heard...
replied on: 5/14/2008 8:23:04 AM There were the usual 'new windows os' driver problems to start with and there is still some backward compatibility problems but other than that it seems ok. Just make sure any new rig you buy does not say "Ready For Vista" or "Vista Compatible" 'cos odds are its not and it's been jammed in there anyhow. It seems the main problem people have now is its slower to write to disc across networks. But if its a stand alone machine ... meh... But thats just me, I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time. Wouldn't even be the first time today (and its only 9:20am in sunny PA) |

Apropos of nothing....
replied on: 5/14/2008 8:24:44 AM In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University. On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully. He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense mom ents. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day. Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man. Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed his stupid ass against the railing, killing him instantly. Probably wasn't the same elephant. This is for all those people who send me those heart-warming stories. |

replied on: 5/20/2008 7:35:34 AM A bit late, but whatever... I've been running Vista for the last year or so. So far, all the problems I've been having are really minor. I may have complained about Vista when I first got it, but over-all, it's a great upgrade to XP. The UI is FAR more streamlined then XPs is. It is a bit slower then XP was when I had it, but I blame that fact on the fact that I only have 1 gig of RAM, and a built-in graphics card. >_< The one thing that makes me wtf at Vista though... Is the fact it crashes Notepad. o_o Yeah. I've actually had NOTEPAD. One of -THE- most stable programs in existence, crash. >_> |

replied on: 6/3/2008 6:33:17 AM Notepad requires 2gb of ram a direct x 10.1 compatible vga card with 512mb dedicated ram for it to properly apply 16x FSAA. You know, to make the text appear smoother. |
