Do you know Norman the Philosopher?
replied on: 11/8/2003 4:01:19 PM Yes, a very kind and gentle soul, often to be found in Charlie's office (the Central Library cafe). There's also another guy from the Library who's even more mad about the Monarchy than Norman. Someone once told me he'd had an operation to remove part of his brain, although the part that deals with the Royal Family is still very much intact. |

replied on: 11/8/2003 4:37:00 PM I love the idea of there being a part of the brain that deals with monarchic issues. Maybe my royal lobe was starved of oxygen one time. I can't deal with them at all. |

replied on: 11/11/2003 3:07:06 PM Norman,it seems is not allowed out now by his brother because he spends too much money on sandwiches. He also tends to do the same when he is on one of his visits to some castle or stately home and has been known to summon taxis to take him all the way back to Coleshill where he lives. He identifies with the Royal Family because like him they are an oppressed minority. |

replied on: 1/5/2004 4:48:49 PM I saw him again today. Am I mad or is he a mystic? His journey done, He stepped off the bus like Zarathustra, Heavy with the fruit of insight, and a pocket full of change. |

replied on: 1/5/2004 10:49:12 PM Did anyone see that Tony Robinson programme on royalty the other night? Apparently the real monarch of Britain is an Aussie living in the outback or something. And he's a republican. |

replied on: 1/6/2004 3:33:43 AM quote: I saw him on two successive nights a few weeks ago, waiting for a bus in Lower Bull Street. It was just after nine when I saw him, and he told me his bus didn't come until ten. But then what is a mere hour to a man so immersed in the centuries-long pageant of royal history? |

replied on: 1/6/2004 12:30:03 PM I'd always suspected the divine right of ascension was a load of bollox. Nice of Baldrick to give us some evidence. And the dude was anti-royalist - what a true patriot and obvious candidate for un-king. |
