Ok he is not really from birmingham if you want to stick to the strictest definition of the word Brummie as he was born outside the number 11 route.
He did however play a game at Villa park.
I think it was 1970 and he was playing for Santos. I think Villa lost by 3-1, it pissed down with rain.

I was there, I saw Pele play : )

I had to walk home to Small Heath and my feet got muddy. My mom told me to wash my feet as if I had to go to Hospital they would not want to see dirty feet.
I did not wash my feet, I went to bed.
The next day at school one of my class mates cut my thumb off with a scalpel.
As I came out of anesthetic my mother bollocked me about my feet.

I did not care, I had seen Pele play : )

Birmingham is to England as Brazil is to South America. We both talk different to the others, had football long before the others, erm, you get the picture. He's in!

Try to be a little more specific with the address than...

Pele
Brazil.

Although it would actually reach the great man.

It's a friend of mine's claim to fame that he jumped on Pele's back after that match. He also didn't wash his feet, in fact he didn't wash anything for months after he was so awed by the experience.

I suspect Pele wasn't though.

Villa beat Santos 2-1. I think it was the last time we beat foreign opposition.
Home opposition is getting more difficult also.

Mr pants, the result did not matter. I have seen Villa win and lose many times.
I only saw Pele play once.

the pele game is the one with the famous incident where he stormed off when the floodlights dimmed.

apparently someone in a office had plugged in a two-bar electric fire & drained all the power...

i was also at the qpr game, trev came on at half time, villa were one up and the rest - as they say - was comedy.

oh, and pele has erectile disfunction (and he's not afraid to talk about it) - dunno if that makes him more or less worthy of being an honorary brummie

More worthy I think. If you can't talk about your shortcomings on national TV, what can you do?

Not only was he a fantastic footballer, he was bloody marvellous in Escape to Victory.

A classic, both the film and Pele. Regardless of his erectile problems.

You have no taste, class, imagination, heart or soul. You are devoid of any emotion.

Watch it again and weep. Especially when the starving Eastern Europeans are called up.
