replied on: 2/19/2004 4:23:25 PM There have been some tiresomely atrocious bands in Birmingham... Most of them in fact! Delicious Monster were particularly poor! |

Low Art Thrill? Nein danke!
replied on: 2/20/2004 3:53:21 PM quote: I wouldn't have called her sexy. Not unless you like pigs, but she was a decent singer and I object to us females being considered objects of sexual desire rather than judged on equal terms with males. No, their rhythm section was hot - quite unorthodox (lots of counter-rhythms, if that's the right term) - and probably the best Brum has produced by a long shot (but, let's face it, there ain't much competition, is there?). Does anyone know what happened to them? I've still got lots of their records. I've never heard of The International. Are they still going? What's so s h i t about them, Bounds? Actually, I think I'll withdraw my previous statement. After trying to think of some half decent Brum bands, I've come to the conclusion that there hasn't been very many. In fact, it has produced some high calibre crap. I'm thinking in particular of a band called Low Art Thrill. Ever heard of them? I doubt if anyone has. They barely registered on anyone's musical radar. They were the biggest pile of w a n k I've ever seen. Their frontman was a laughable chinless toff called Jeremy (seriously!) with a David Bowie obsession (in his dreams!), and the rest of them were so effeminate they looked scared to play their instruments too hard in case they broke them. Needless to say, they disappeared without a trace a long time ago and are probably stacking shelves in Kwiksave now. Birdland came from Brum, didn't they? Anyone remember them? Trying to forget? And then there's Mickey Greaney! Nuff said. |

replied on: 2/20/2004 6:07:46 PM I was rather partial to Low Art Thrill actually... One of the more interesting bands at the time... Hmmm... that's a lot of spleen you're venting there Peaky. What's the angle? Which s h i t band were you in and/or sleeping with then? And yes, I unfortunately do remember Birdland... |

Low Art Thrill? Nein danke!
replied on: 2/20/2004 7:34:59 PM quote: What exactly were you partial to? Their shit songs and self-indulgence? The frontman's posh accent? His naff Bowie fetish? Can't say as I'm venting spleen, just giving an opinion. I can't play an instrument but have slept around a bit and know a decent tune when I hear one. I also know that Low Art Thrill, Birdland and Mickey Greaney wouldn't know a decent tune if one came up and bit them on the a r s e. What band were you in? Oh, and when you say "One of the more interesting bands at the time," what time are you talking about exactly? I bet you I can name at least three other bands from the same era which eclipse those fey Oxbridge twats. |
