I guess you could think of it in the same way as the police telling the landlord of the old Greyhound cider house not to ban anyone so that they could conveniently keep all the bad apples in one box, so to speak. Or perhaps a more extreme analogy might be that of a leper colony. In any case, everybody knows by now what is happening on the Mitton thread and can simply choose not to go there if they don't like it. Delete it, however, and no thread will be safe.

Being a Bakhtinian, I am not a fan of containment or monologism. I prefer all discourses to enter into active competition with each other (dialogism) rather than have this strange form of electronic apartheid where some voices are ghettoised. It is only then that people like you will learn the error of their ways. The voice of Mitton in your pathetic little excuse for a thread acts like some oppressive overarching metanarrative preventing any of you from having your own voice. Can't you see that?
