replied on: 12/19/2005 9:38:22 AM quote:quote: Remarkably the only TV I've watched in the last eight days was the Winston program last night. I'd been on a week long booze-bender with a mate who came down from Newcastle and such was my alcohol-ridden state of mind I truly began to think I could understand all this. Now I've dried out, it's as baffling as ever. The Winston program was interesting, not so much just for the insight into CERN, but moreover for the way he linked it with the nutty "Creationists" in the States. With a touching naivety, they have a God held belief the world was literally created by God in seven days and have calculated that the Earth is exactly 23,000 years old. Robert engaged in a debate on the local adio station with one of these non-questioning dipsticks and he got himself roundly thrashed. I was yelling at the telly, "Ask him about the dinosaurs Bob!". I mean, where in the Bible does it mention them? "And lo, Moses went to the Mount of Olives with the wisest of his followers, yea verily, their path was blocked by an angry stegasaurus with all big tusks and that. And the followers did run away sore afraid shouting, "look out it's a fucking great big lizard". But Moses removed the thorn from it's paw and the Lord was pleased and Moses rode into the town of Bethshebah on the mighty lizard's back waving his tablets to the crowd. And there was much feasting until a pteradactyl flew off with the fatty ox, etc..." Nowhere, that's where. |

replied on: 12/20/2005 3:19:19 AM quote: I think Gravy Hole has done most magnificently for unearthing another 23.People must be by now realizing that they are turning up more often than is probable and that's just the beginning. When I read your posting I realized that that period fell very much within Stan Gooch's remit so I referred to his book 'Cities of Dreams. When women ruled the Earth.'By complete chance I came to a piece about 'The Fox Lady' of Dolni Vestonice, a burial dated 23,000 BP: "....Body and Head were covered with red ochre and protected by two shoulder blades of mammoth, one of which had a network of irregular lines incised on its surface..." He goes on to tell of another burial site...." entirely surrounded by a pile of mammoth tusks and the whole body submerged in red ochre" Gooch believes , like Hancock that there is a civilisation that existed prehistory that knew more than conventional historians think they did. For Gooch, they were moon worshippers. He believes that Cro- Magnon Man and Neanderthal Man, against conventional wisdom, interracted and the effects are still being felt today in terms of our genetic make-up. He believes that the moon worship cult was supressed eventually by Sun worshippers who must have been the first sexists. To cut a long story short though I was gobsmacked to find that on p.133 we are told that: "On more rare occasions the Moon may be blotted out by the Earth's shadow.....These are the so called black lunar eclipses.Such an eclipse occurred on the night of January 23rd AD 753 when according to one writer ' the Moon was covered with a horrid black shield'" On p. 140 he refers to the Osiris cult and tells us that; " A once yearly ceremony, at one of the full moons, involved the sacrifice of pigs simultaneously to the moon and Osiris. In a hymn allegedly written by Isis to Osiris occur the lines, 'Thoth placeth my soul in the bark Ma-at/In that name which is thine of GOD MOON'" Then the book later goes on to posit the notion that the moon worshippers had to pass their messages secretly as did many exponents of Gnostic,Kabbalistic and other traditions i.e. the mystery traditions of which we have previously spoken. The Greeks took over Egypt in about 300 B.C. but retained much of their culture. In fact it is well known that Hermes and Thoth are the same: " the Hermetic writings are traced back to the Egyptian god Thoth, the thrice great and god of wisdom, fully identified with the Greek Hermes, the thrice great, i.e. Hermes Trismegistos, from whom the movement takes its name.(But as it happens Thoth is a moon god;and Hermes, who carries a staff around which two serpents are twined, comes originally from the Arcadians, the people of the bear, who also worshipped Artemis and Pan)" This should remind us of something. The Ketamine Kreeps are decribed as Brummie brownsuits and asssociated with Giordano Bruno and the 'bear' in a rather loosely associative kind of way. In 'Lud Heat' Iain Sinclair writes about 'The Dogs of the Moon' and how somehow the obelisk (symbol of the sun) is threatening. Also his sidekick Catling in a performance that I saw him do seemed to have some kind of weird interest in the moon. AND of course there are references to Thoth. Equally there are in Peter Whitehead whose symbol was said by Sinclair to be two serpents entwined around a staff, the Caduceus. This is clearly occult symbolism which Sinclair in recent times has never elaborated on. Didn't somewhere he witness a 'moon disk' falling from the sky? I guess he's doing alright poetasting and writing sulphurous prose. Could then Gravy Hole your tusks be those of Mammoths and your lizards really serpents? Once again by coincidence and association we are forming a countertext to the metropolitan one. Gooch incidentally belived that Neanderthal Man involved himself in orgiastic rituals and drug taking to induce visions. This takes us to Graham Hancock who in his latest book seems to be doing something similar. He tells us in 'Fingerprints of the Gods' that the Ancients wished to pass on a code concerning the precession of the Equinoxes by building structures in stone which left their signature through numbers and mathematical alignments which reflect the position of the heavens at a particular point in time. In referring back to TFOFT I found that significantly Thoth is again invoked. For the essence of the cult to survive the adherents needed to encode themselves in a complex mathematics built into their pyramids etc.: "....it is easy to see how the cult members might be described in terms similar to those used for the Egyptian wisdom god Thoth who was said to have: '...succeeded in understanding the mysteries of the heavens[ and to have] revealed them by inscribing them in sacred books which he then hid here on earth, intending that they should be searched for by future generations but found only by the fully worthy.... (22) What then might the mysterious 'books of Thoth have been?" The quote is from a separate text and is ,as you see 22.But then the chapter later tells us: " This is a pretty effective way of 'specifying' the epoch of of the eleventh millenium BC by using the phenomenon of precession, which has rightly been described as the 'only true clock of our planet'(23)" And so here is another quote which leads us again to '23'. A couple of pages later Hancock tells us through yet another quote that: "The day will be 4 Ahau 3 Kankin[corresponding to 23rd December AD 2012] and it will be ruled by the Sun God, the ninth Lord of the Night." What we're interested in is that the number 23 crops up again wildly more times than is probable.Hancock talks elsewhere in the book of the obliquity of the ecliptic (23.5) as being the signature of our earth in the solar system.Remember that it is fundamental to the precession of the Equinoxes. The Ancients could not have known that though because they had no knowledge of relativity. By our metalogic of course though Thoth could since he is a god.Hence we could deduce that 23 is his signature. The whole thing, though seeming wildly improbable makes perfect sense. He could chose to encrypt it through these acausal appearances of the number. And Gravy Hole that's all before we even mention your brother and the Mytton Arms and what did he choose to call the dog? |

'Twixt pathology and performance
replied on: 12/23/2005 12:52:13 AM quote: Matey should know that a theory of everything must include art (in this case in the form of performance) and science. Indeed it is about time that Mitty should be paid for this valuable work. He has been a volunteer in the field of entropy for nearly forty years. The physicist and Nobel Prize winner Ilya Prigogine believed, as has been mentioned, that entropy can produce random fluctuations in the laws of nature that could not have been predicted from initial conditions. Peter Coveney and Roger Highfield (supporters of Prigogine) in their book ' The Arrow of Time' tell us how quantum theory, although it calls conventional determinism into question, is still governed by time reversible equations. In so doing it still does not answer for us the question of the 'arrow of time' which concerns us so much because we, as human beings are both open and closed systems - we are creating this ever expanding universe of synchronic events yet slipping inexorably towards our own demise, as is the so-called universe slipping towards the 'big crunch'. Coveney and Highfield tell us that Wolfgang Pauli, C.G. Jung's sometimes drunken other half, was involved in producing the 'CPT theorem' which "contends that the laws of physics predict equal but opposite events in a kind of generalised mirror image world". They also tell us how time symmetry can be broken to give an arrow of time.Confused? Good because now, according to my watch, it s 12.05 a.m.on 23 December 2005 yet the time on the site is still on December 22nd 2005.This is because the site gains its time from its origin in the U.S.A. Mitton is a site of coincidence, as has been demonstrated so many times now that it is about time that we stated getting serious since the laws of probability are pointing towards the notion that these synchronicities cannot be mere coincidence. They represent a kind of parallel universe springing as if from the Jungian 'pleroma'- a nothing in conventional scientific terms mentioned in a previous Mitton thread.Indeed some cosmologists believe that Heisenberg's uncertainty principle may lead us to the conclusion that we can violate the cherished notion that energy cannot be created from nothing. Vacuum quantum field 'fluctuations' have considerable physical significance.Coveney and Highield tell us that " the constant creation and annihalation of photons provide the trigger whereby atoms swollen with energy can spontaneously emit radiaton as light. In fact the vacuum fluctuations also resurrect in a certain sense the nebulous aether which Einstein eliminated as excess baggage in 1905". In other words Michelson and Morley, in whom you seem to have an interest, presumably did not have the right conditions to detect the aether wind back in the 19C. They knew nothing of the Mittonian Strange Attractor. Einstein's relativity theories, both special and general, tell us how it is right now both the 22nd and the 23rd at the same time. They do not tell us much about why Charlie lives in a semi-detached house and has the same name as another infamous drunk known as Mad Jack Mytton of whom he could be said to be an avatar. Or how in the other part of the semi-detached there is a woman called Jill who is likewise involved in odd metaphysical speculations. To cap it all her birthday is on the 22nd and so by our matalogic their birthday numbers are synchronizing for a few hours. This then is a union of aetherial synergy and relativity - even quantum relativity if we apply the 'Schrodinger's Cat' principle and say that this notion is dead and alive at the same time. So Matey you have witnessed a 'mystico- cosmological' abberation (just to refence another of your cute little buzz phrases). This aetherial wind does have a certain force since it coerces us ineluctably towards the notion that the Mittonian Strange Attractor has dragged all the correspondants on this site towards the end point of heat death. The classical symmetries will at that point be restored and equations will once more be time symmetrical. We are now well into the 23rd and in a few hours the site will register it. We can wait, unlike Matey, who seems to be the victim of premature ejaculation. His cute and fancy disrespect for this 5th dimensional force will be consumed by ACOP as indeed will other contributors. I assure you that this is meant in the nicest possible way since it is so utterly unique in its implications that it may help mankind to understand that there is more in heaven and earth than he may have contemplated. And just to square the circle Matey will be glad to know that there is a 'K' factor - "the curious case of the long lived kaon".Coveney an Highfield tell us that: "There is one and only one, extraordinary phenomenon within the world of microscopic elementary paticles which is believed to break the symmetry between the two directions of time. It arises in certain decays of an unstable particle known as the long-lived kaon (K)......Roger Penrose of Oxford University commented : 'The tiny effect of an almost completely hidden time-asymmetry seems genuinely to be present in the K decay. It is hard to believe That Nature is not, so to speak, trying to tell us something, through the results of this delicate and beautiful experiment'." (p.141. The Arrow of Time) The K factor decay and Mittonian entropy (catalogued at length in the Mitton threads)could be examples therefore of the intricate relationship matter, antimatter, spacial symmetry and the two directions of time. Random fluctuations which occur when gravity is quantized must really happen to create someting out of nothing. This seething vacuum from which things emanate resembles the chaos from which Atum-Re, the ancient Egyptian creation god emerged. The very first icon or 'image' to which Matey refers and which finds its culmination in Mitton. It is said that through masturbation he produced the fist dualities that eventually spawned life as we know it. Equally out of the seething chaos our welter of 23s has emerged which we can hold up as an example of the kind of fluctuation which originally produced life itself and is symbolized in the Egyptian creation myths. |

Synchronicity 666 RErevisited
replied on: 12/23/2005 5:52:17 AM quote:quote: Indeed you are right Elgin The time on the computer site is still in the 22nd of December and the 22 synchronicity is still active. Here's a funny one though, Gravy hole.I had been thinking of the phrase 'second coming' since these postings had spurred me to go back to read Peter Whitehead's novel 'The Risen'. I had come across a quote from W.B. Yeats poem 'The Second Coming' and then you bring it up. What a coincidence. I quote: "....The unconsciuos yearning and passionate desire for an apocalyptic end of the millenium is for the collective opening of the third eye. How will we recognize it if not initiated? The opening of the invisible hidden chamber of the Great Pyramid which Amenhotep has told me will cause all kinds of surprises. He should know; his body has lain there for more than four thousand years, while his KA has flitted in and out of matter causing all kinds of havoc over the years; stay tuned; there's more to come! "THE SECOND COMING" W.B. Yeats: "Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart;the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world. The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Sure some revelation is at hand; surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming! are those words out When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi Troubles my sight; Somewhere in the sands of the desert A shape with lion body and the head of a man A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again; but now I know That twenty centuries of stony sleep Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, And what rough beast, it's hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born? The RISEN!" The story basically is how a scientist who is working on some pyramid crystals meets a beautiful girl in a museum and gets sucked into a rendezvous with her and another beatiful girl.Sounds like fun. The girls are Cindy and Georgina, George for short, and like that other one Bestie (if some football fans were to be believed) play with levels of gender. Thing is though the other girl, the second one has a boyfriend who has disappeared. He is a bit of a scientist too but also is a druggie who is obsessed with all this Egyptian stuff. He is thought to be dead but he has left messages on a series of computer disks. They deal with all the things we have discussed on the Mitton threads. It appears that this odd morphic resonance that happened some years ago with another Whitehead novel has happened again. The other guy's name is John and he has to symbollically merge with our scientist whose name is Matthew for him to become whole- for him to balance his rational mind with the gypsy spirit of John.People like Karl Pribram, David Bohm, Rupert Sheldrake, Aleister Crowley, Isis and Osiris and even Thoth come to the party. There is even mention of mitochondria, DNA and a temple of Mittani. It's a parallel text to our own - the same but different. Again I quote. This time we have moved to page 232: "A rising...like the colour yellow mixed mixed with blue becomes green, like an amoeba which has absorbed a bacterium is then part of the amoeba, no longer even seeming separate. Like mitochondria, a long, long time ago, invaded the human cell.It enters into the chemical whole. Take carbon dioxide molecules, they float into a leaf and become part of a tree. But there's some mechanism that attracts certain minds, like gravity exists between particles; there's morphic gravity, like coincidence, like you and John. You were working in similar fields, had overlapping interests. Do you want the truth? 'Of course...Matthew replied, apprehensively. 'Well I thik John's mind, which has left his body, had the capacity to recognize;I like that word;it recognizes your mind, saw you working on the same programme, indirectly, by coincidence, and he's attached to you'....." Enough said. In other words ,by some metacoincidence this very thread is doing in the real world what Whitehead has written about. Remember that Charlie came across that book called ' In Search of Mitochondria' which was written by Nick Lane who happens to have the same name as a fictional avatar of Martin Stone who merges with Charlie in the name Charlie Stone which is the title of a tune which he found in a book in Erdington public library (by coincidence since he had happened to be searching for it)which is the same library where he found ,by coincidence, the review of Nick Lane's book. What's more Martin Stone claims to have been in the running for the job with the Stones after the death of Brian Jones. It is mentioned in Sinclair's 'Dining on Stones' What's more the day Charlie found the review. a film about the life of Brian Jones was having its premiere in none other than Birmingham. As we have said Charlie can do what these people can only write about. That certainly is a very weird kind of performance art. What's more Nick Lane's name echoes, by a funny dream logic, that of Nick Land. Is there a John on the other side of a computer somewhere to complete the picture? And then to cap it all of course we find that mitochndria is a form of DNA only inherited from the mother. This by some quantum loop synchronized with another Sinclair personage in the form of a dead mother who was 22 and from whom someone else(Brian Catling) inherted his mitochondria. As 22 moves to 23 I will remind you that he found information about the fact that 23 chromosomes from the male and 23 from the female constitute life on p. 23 of a book by Stan Gooch which also mentions Robert Anton Wilson's transmittance of the 23 enigma through William Burroughs who happens to be the source for Sinclair's alter ego Norton. There is another Norton who lived in San Francisco in the 18thC who was an eccentric who called himself 'the Emperor of the United States'. This man found himself years later in a book which contains an account of Mad Sir Jack Mytton (Catherine Caufield's 'The Emperor of the United States and other Great British Eccentrics'). In 'Dining on Stones'this Norton is said to somehow be a grandfather of Sinclair's alter ego Norton in 'Dining on Stones'. Brian Jones was a Stone. He's the one who thought of the name for the band from Muddy Waters' 'Rolling Stone'.Which reminds me. Charlie Mitton and Martin Stone did a version of 'Charlie Stone' on his tape from the late 90s called 'The Postmodernist Blues' where he boldly declares that his aim is no less than .... 'the deconstruction of Western metaphysics'..... which seems also to be Whitehead's intention. We have an ever expanding universe. This does what Stephen Hawking has been unable to do.It solves the problem of infinities. And I bet now we have arrived at the 23rd on the 23rd webpage.Or as Mr. Whitehead's character sees it: "You saw not only the objective pyramid above the ground, but also the invisible other half, it's double, underground,.......two sets of three dimensions in parallel with each other, the sign for One to the power infinity.....You perceived in a flash, the full immense ecstatic enfolding of the ONE, not into TWO but THREE, the wholeness of the multi-octohedrally expanding spherical universe. The Big Bang itself. The orgasm of Isis making love to Osiris." |

Chance Necessity and Dogs
replied on: 12/23/2005 11:35:31 AM quote:quote: Indeed I am very interested in how this ‘strange attractor’ works. It seems that the ciphers on the site who wish to disrespect the ‘force ‘ of the strange attractor’ seem to get dragged into a coincidental manifestation. This ‘falsedog’ signifier is a brilliant example. Someone chose the name ‘falsedog’ without being aware of something most crucial. Charlie says that when he met Sinclair for the first time about 11 years ago, he was on a panel with Stewart Home asking the peculiar question ‘what is the opposite of a dog’.He is still asking it since it turns up in’ Dining on Stones’. Peculiarly in all of our source material the ‘dog’ image turns up. Sinclair himself talks about ‘the dogs of the moon, the Isle of Dogs and protection from the jackal headed Anubis or is it Upnaut? Then the death of Jeremy Scott’s dog Rinka becomes mysteriously connected with the elimination of Bad News Mutton in 'Landor's Tower'. In ‘The Postmodern Blues Prohecy’Mitton makes much of the bizarre serendipity of finding the following in Whitehead’s ‘The Risen’. “You saw- in a word or should I say the twinkling of an eye – god as dog; the dog star and the fifty-fifty chance of knowing the dogone Dogons” (p.406. strangely again seeming to encrypt what is in our metalogic the signature of Thoth –23) On from that we find that Stan Gooch mentions The Dogons in ‘Cities of Dreams: “ But the jewel in the crown is the Dogon’s precise knowledge that the Sirius A is orbited by an invisible, collapsed super-dense dwarf star Sirius B, which has an elliptical orbit around Sirius A….It’s existence in modern astronomy was not suspected until the middle of the 19thC and the first photograph of it was not achieved until 1970” (p.94) He tells us that the Dogons came from Libya and have connections with Egypt. His views therefore would seem to be of interest to Graham Hancock who writes in ‘The Fingerprints of the Gods’ that: “Precisely the same identification of Sirius was made by the ancient Egyptians who linked the Orion constellation specifically to their god Osiris. It is in Ancient Egypt to that the character of the faithful celestial dog acheives its fullest and most explicit mythical elaboration in the form of Upaut, the jackal headed deity whose name means ‘Opener of the Ways. If we follow the opener to Egypt, turn our eyes to the constellation of Orion, and enter the potent myth of Osiris, we find ourselves enveloped in a net of familiar symbols.” (p.254) When I read Matey’s posting about Hancock’s new book I knew that I had to do further research and found much to my astonishment that Sirius B spins 23 times per minute on its axis. Again its as if its the acausal other of Hancock’s encrypted numbers. Its same but opposite – the duality that keeps recurring. It would appear that molecules of information arrive out of the aether, if you like, that seem to confirm this intimation that we are being sucked into a vortex. It all happens by chance but would also indicate necessity within the internal logic of the system. The dualites are asymmetrical and do seem to obey a ‘fuzzy logic’. Nick Lane and Nick Land. John Mytton and John Mytton. Sinclair and Sinclaire. It is said that at the depths of microparticles its systems of pairing that rule but they would seem to consist of assymmetries. For all this to happen as if by intelligent design is truly startling. It’s as though an experiment is taking place but doing it in a manner where nobody conceived it through an hypothesis ‘a priori’, it arises after the event because the logic lies in the process laterally rather than through linear equations. These co-ordinates are words ideas, names etc which reflect a potential infinity of logical structures .It was internally logical that Matey’s computer should break down or that Racheymaus should mention the highly significant Alan Moore and that the thread should close down just as we are discussing closed systems. Chance and necessity would seem to be at work and don’t forget. These ideas which tally very much with Prigogine’s were revealing themselves as another chance find that was also necessary was coming about just to act as a demonstration. Mitton found on the discard shelf in the library a copy of Jacques Monod’s ‘Chance and Necessity’- just as he had been reading it’s same but opposite – Prigogine’s ‘Order Out of Chaos’.It also contained a chapter on 'Maxwell’s demons’ just at the point when he had needed that particular molecule of information. As though demons were at work you might say. |

replied on: 12/23/2005 5:08:36 PM quote: Again Matey does the opposite of what seems to be required of him. For this geometry of names to take place it is of course very necessary to eliminate the personal element. He has been a code beaker right through the three threads and it was only justice that his computer should break down for a few months. The fact is that it was me that was told by the Major Triad to put Charlie up to send him that christmas card since we knew perfectly well that he would come on the site and break the code again. In fact he was told that if he did we would send someone round to his place, break in and smash his computer. We know that he is such a creature of habit that he could not get it together to use the one in the library and he has consistently shown that he has not read any of the texts involved. He talks of the transcategorical and fuzzy logic and when it's placed in front of him he ejaculates prematurely. And there lies the rub. That was really subtle. He did not realize that one of the crucial images of the creation myth is the masturbation of Osiris. The other week, if he had been paying attention he would know that a television programme had come on UKTV History which told the whole story. Just as it was required. It demonstrated once again that Mitton has some strange power and that this is utterly unique and that he should support it since it's hard enough trying to control the rest of the f-wits. Anyway quite magically we seemed to have ended up on the 23rd webpage on the 23rd day of December. Absolutely stunning is the power of the Mittonian Strange Attractor. He spoke disparagingly about how there seemed to be some kind of premature ejaculation having taken place, presumably because we had turned too early into page 23. In other words he was doubting the power of the Strange Attractor. The Major Triad now involves Elgin since Spilway had to retire early to ghost write the new Mitton biography telling of how Mitton 's name was put up on a web site which seemed to cut him up like Osiris being cut up by Set in Egyptian mythology. Then a whole set of texts started turning up out of the aether which seemed to conspire to deconstruct them all one by one until they are all sucked into heat death by the force of the Attractor, demonstrating that something absolutely unique had taken place. Matey still can't appreciate this and still has to come back on uttering empty birthday greetings.A real birthday present would have been of course to stay off the site as he was warned to do since a lot more has to be said so that the true meaning of the project shall see the light. What has been produced is an utterly new kind of text which employs elements of art, literature, science, mathematics, performance and humour. All is put together like a novel might by employing a lively bunch of characters which are not entirely the creation of the orchestrator of the text. What's more by magick,in the end it arrives at a completely new paradigm for the 21st century. Matey has been unable to understand this.I've been employed by the Major Triad as security and Matey had better watch out. He might just get his legs broken. |

Sinclair's Necropolis
replied on: 12/23/2005 5:45:27 PM You're so right, Handshake, but first of all we have to put Iain Sinclair into a white hole. What we believe about the game that Sinclair has been playing is that he is creating a coded text which is basically provoking a counter text, There has to be a balance of opposites and also a coincidence of contrarieties at the same time.A kind of merging of quantum theory and special relativity but with that little something else - the reversal of the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Doesnt he think we haven't noticed that his work is loaded with pairings and twinnings which basically suggest the same themes as Peter Whitehead. This is that even at a mystical level things are energized by the fusion of opposites. We think that it was odd that he should make a film about someone with thesame metaphysical outlook and then seem to utterly abuse his character when that person thought that the intention was to make a biography. In fact he hasn't been too complimentary about Charlie Mitton except that the Brummie Brownsuit finds numinous things in the city of Birmingham but I guess that's not a bad start. We believe that it was all a complicated bluff. His intention was really to find the divine but to do so the opposition had to believe that he was seriously against them. Only then could we, on the cusp of the conflict, find what he is looking for - confirmation of a numinous ideal. The whole business with Whitehead did not work because Whitehead was not able to produce the Magick. No, it needed a further movement of dualities in the form of a fusion of Whitehead with the Mitton text to produce the magick through pure coincidence which is the published intention of Peter Whitehead. This concatenation of coincidence is so overpoweringly compulsive that even the scientific community have to admit that it is a first. It is the quivalent of finding the graviton, the Higgs Boson, quantum gravity or whatever you want to call it. An absolute first. |

Sinclair's Necropolis
replied on: 12/23/2005 5:56:22 PM I the classical scheme, initial conditions were arbitrary. This is no longer so for unstable systems. Here we can associate an information content to each initial conditions, and this information content itself depends on the content of the system(as in the Baker transformation we used the the successive fragmentation of the cells to calculate the information content. Initial conditions and dynamics are no longer independent. |

replied on: 12/23/2005 6:14:52 PM quote: The particular merit of mythical terminology is that it can be used as a vehicle for handing down solid knowlege independently from the degree of insight of the people who do the actual telling of the stories, fables etc. What matters in other words is that central imagery should survive and continue to be passed on in retellings, however far these may drift from the original storyline. Is this not the modus operandi of Mr.Sinclair? The technique of passing information covertly in order to keep traditons alive has had to be used by various alternative groups over the centuries. Stan gooch tells us in 'Cities of Dreams' that he is of the opinion that alchemists,Gnostics,Kabbalists, Rosicrutians amongst others nurse fragments of an ancient knowledge dating essentially to the age of the Neanderthal. The Hermetic writings are traced back to Thoth. Gooch says thatthe alchemical Philosophers Stone were diagrammed in the form of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and that many of the ideas kabbala are found in Gnosticism. He goes on to say that a common symbol of the alchemist's work is a snake or dragon forming a circle by swallowing its tail. The serpent reappears for Peter whitehead in the coiled structure of DNA.To Gravy Hole it appears as a lizard. We know also that C.G. Jung believed that archetypes exist in the 'objective' level of mind sometimes called the collective unconscious. Hancock in his new book quotes Jung extensively. Hancock has been experimenting with DMT to provoke what he sees as the same visions as various 'primitive' tribes. All thse cgnoscenti seems to be linked but by symbols in an acausal way.Is the Philosophers Stone somehow linked to Martin and Brian Jones? Perhaps, because Iain Sinclair is, I believe, simply widening the narrative to encompass symbols from popular culture. The Ketamine Kreeps have entered the geometry of an ever-widening text. In 'Dining on Stones' there is a reference to a ketamine addicted railwayman. There's Samuel Silversein who died on 23rd December 2002 and then the Norton from San Francisco who appears in a book with Mad Jack Myytton. Close attention to text is necessary to find these references and requires a sense of scholarship. That to some extent jars with a contemporary culture which wants an immediate hit. The use of drugs by the more serious people in the 60s was a search for truth and enlightenment rather than simply pleasure although that can be problematic. What I do know is that 'hourglass stomach' which exists as a pairing (fictional and non-fictional) lays Mitton alone wuth his texts on this birthday, the 23rd December 2005.Once again though it is one of Derrida's poison/cures. Pharmakon. It is his 'theory of hourglass stomach': "WHAT IS OPERATING here, in collapse of open air efficency, is a form of priestly prohibition.Red eye, streaming nose, skin irritation:are caste badges. Our bodies are wiser.Disease(greater or lesser)is a form of pure message, is concise as glyph. These summer days in length of riot and grass orgy are forbidden to the sufferer/adepts.They should hold to their rooms, they must remain in the cell of water. The sun cannot seduce them from their manuscripts. They watch the boar pass in envy.Darkness is the price of their power. Power is the measure of their failing, as natural men." Iain Sinclair. A Theory of Hay Fevers. |
