Examples being used is Stargate...

Rules to Role playing...Chat style

10. a Player May Never Control another Players Character without Premission to access it for a post.

(Side Note) A Post is what your Character Does and Say, The Longer you're Post is the Better, but don't just make it longer, make it with more infermation and detail, it's called Paragraph Role play. The Easyer form of this Role play is One Linning where you say one line and hit enter, then make another line and hit enter.

9. Detail is always Required! Always! you forget the slightest of Detail you can have someone else miss-understand you're post, and that alone sounds like a bad thing.

8.Newbie N00b, Newb, the correct term is Newbie don't forget, in role play that's a very insulting term and no one likes it. But being an Actually Newbies, you guys really shouldn't be that upset with it.

7.What is Rp about. Well this may not be a Rule but, Never forget what role playing is about, some people they think it's all about love and what not, others think it's about death destruction and everything blowing up, then there are the people that are sick and do cyber role play for bad reasons...there the kind of people you want to get rid of, they act like they know what their doing, but don't. and can easyle string along a newbie. but what is Rp really about?

It's about you. It's Life in another Life, You're basically suppose to be acting out you're made Character with his personality, and what Resources he has, Emotions, and the Problem at hand, if you're character Stands up to a Gun, Think about this...How many lives do you have in this one? why would someone be that idiotic? get the picture? now of course...you get people like Indiana Jones out for adventure so risk alot and that comes with character personality, is he Big and Bad, or Weak and Scared of Everything now of course, it's easy to play a Fighting character, but playing a Non Fighter Character in a Fighting Part of an Rp, that's pretty darn hard, so I wouldn't expect it from you guys just yet.

That's another thing, keep in mind, if you watch shows, for an exsample, Look at Atlantis...You have Weir, the Leader of the Group with her Personality, Wants to be the boss and wants to seem like a Bad chick, but reality, She's really weak, and nothing like she wants to be. Ford is like a Useless Body guard, who gets sent to do everything, Then you get Shepard who Started out as a Weakling guy who knew nothing now suddenly (because the writers are bad) he is Tough guy Uses a S.A.W with Two hands no problem, and he acts like he's been doing it for years, Skip ahead to the last one I'll point out, Ronon, I know nothing of this guy, but from what I'm seeing in Previews, and how he looks, this is a Pretty strong guy, Strong people tend to have an Emotional weakness, goes with the whole Physical Strength, Emotional Weakness.

So as you see what you aim for is a Character that has it's value, if all characters are out to fight and nothing more, then it's gonna get lame pretty fast, let me translate into a Better Show 1 year ago. SG-1 Jack was the Leader, Not Well Educated, But had Common sense, Loves Kids, Loves Dogs Fishing, and my Favorites Bud Weiser and Cheez-its. and had a Bad A**'s attiude, where he lack also was in social Relationships. Teal'c was the Muscles, he was Strong and had a Poor grasp of the Human Language, and as you see every other Teal'c episode he was having emotional Problems. Carter was also more of a leader, but that's her Trainning, She's also like the Engineer the Hands on kind of Person that could do almost anything with the Knowledge giving to her by Teal'c, or Daniel. Daniel was the Weak, Crappy Character, that only had Knowledge, and Evolved into a Semi Military like Figure, Though he didn't go through Trainning, He learned how to use the Famous P-90, and soon enough, he became Sarcasstic and witty like O'Neil, and Daniel also had the Social Problem like O'Neil and Carter, but Daniel no doubt could make the smartest person feel dumb.

Got the Idea? You want to make you're charatcer have a Flaw, but make it show in time, and make sure if you have two Fighters, have someone that is you're Carter, and can Repair things, cause in Atlantis no doubt, things are gonna need to be repaired...or bulit.

6. GOD CHARACTERS! this s one of the hardest of all Rules for Newbies, All Newbies think it's all about THEIR character, well time for a reality check, it's not only about you're character, it's how you act out you're character through want comes towards him, in a sense of is he selfish, that's another thing then Being God. Alot of Newbies think their character is GOD in the sense that they can Take everything thrown at them, from a Rock to a Bullet, to a rocket Launcher Missle, without being hospitalized. Not true, if you have a good DM, which I know Carter would make a Perfect one, they would tell you if you tryed something like that "Uh Sorry, ain't happening, either get rid of that rather lam and unrealistic part of you're post, or change something with the End Resualt. keep this rule ALWAYS in mind.

5.Paragraph Role play, and Orginized Role play go by turn based, there are many ways of Having a Turn base system weither it be. By Name, or by Joinning Sequinse, and many other ways.

4. Respect is another Rule which you have to follow in Role play, Respect the Fellow Player, Respect you're own character's ways, and Most importenly, Respect the DM, for those of you who don't know what a DM is. A DM is a Dungeon Master, they control most of everything that comes you're way, weither it'd be the monster that comes at you, or the Coolent Leak on deck 13, the DM makes or gathers a "Episodes" or "Levels" that are coming up ahead, Rp Required alot of planing and No plan is a fault to fail. Some DM's do things Differently, some go in without a plan and things get pretty Crazy. But if a DM lays down a Plot and says this is what the Episode is about, we start from here, and end here, everyone on the same page? That's what a DM does, they require actually alot of Leadership, and usually stay as a Side Character, but in this case, I think Carter is gonna have fun with this one hehe.

3. Player Veruses Player (PVP) this is a Another Hard rule, Along with GOD like Characters, because they think they are god, people go around Fighting other players for the heck of it, and don't know or set a Character Physical LIMIT! and just get carryed away with alot of crap that's not true...of course everyone does it now and then, but try to Stay away from PVP unless it goes to the plot and it's suppose to be there.

2.Combat, when fighting another play Remember, You're actions should always be something like this to another Character.

Jack: -He jumps over the barrel, rolling onto the Floor, exposing himself in an Open Field. He fired off 15 rounds from his P-90 towards the Man, as he looked through the Sites.-

This is a Newbie post and Is often Done and is bad Role play.

GenericNewbie1: *I fire my Gun and it hits O'Neil in the Neck and Kills him, while I dodge his gun shots*

See that? Jack shot at, and DIDN'T hit, you leave the hitting the enemy to you're Enemy, if they want to be hit then they are hit, they Decide, it's THEIR Character, once after I fired AT him, I gave a Reason why I would hit him. The Newbie though Clearly Didn't read that part and took it for Granted, doing something like the Newbie is bad in this Case. AND back to what I said about controlling Characters, the Newbie Decided to Kill O'Neil but Shoting him in the neck...Now for a Good Question, What Gun is the Newbie using? he didn't State that, and I can take it for granted and just say I dodge, but then the Newbie would start crying about it, so it's best to just leave if any of that happens or ask the DM if the DM doesn't follow by this rule in Combat then it's a USELESS DM this is the Most Importent Rule of RP. now some Newbies will follow this rule, don't hit unless the other guys wants to get hit, well Newbies will go on for hours, non-stop, AND I have done this before, the Newbies will go on non stop dodging everything you throw at them with NO efford, not even getting tired out, that's how to justify if they keep dodging with this System, then don't RP with them, that's one of the hardest things Also to Avoid, If someone is acting like a Newbie, tell you're DM, if there is no DM, then walk away and say "Learn how to RP then talk to be, you're character isn't follow good rules and guide lines.

Now there are no books on these rules, but they are Standard and alot of People use them.

1. this also is a Hard one, and I often get it wrong, ask Carter, Ask my Friends on my RP Forum. Spelling...Spell is very Critical, if a Newbie is Good, they will make fun of you if they can't win, and you're spelling does destroy you, but also it's not Proper to post things like -I hit u- that's Not good Grammar, and Bad Spelling, You don't want that, now if it's with a Big word, like Allegator, or Impossible or constently or some other big word, some times you're brain takes in too much infermation and can't think, that's some reasons why it's hard to spell big words.

And last Foot Note. * ^ - = ( These are what is used for Talking and using in RP.these are used for Actions, and Out of Character, which Out of Character and In Character is Rule 11. which I saved for last here at the buttom.

An action is either this *Waves at you all* or this -Smiles at everyone- or maybe with =laughs out loud= or some other thing like that, Myself I use dashes -looks at the dashes. - there my Favorite.

An Out of Character Bubble is this ( This is me Speaking out of Character.)

11. Out of Character! People have a Hard time understanding Out of Character (OOC) from In Character (IC) you use OOC if you don't understand something, say you do not understand something Use you're Out Of Character Bubbles to tell them something, Hence the Name Out of Character, that tell everyone you're not as you're charatcer right now it's also when you can go back to you're normal state of typing, though I wouldn't recommend it. but for exsample you can use OOC like this (Brb all) and that tells everyone that you're not there. Easy?
