can particles move faster than light if you convert them into light waves and reflect them off mirrors infinitely and then concentrate the light particles into a powerful telescope aimed at a black hole?/ and if so would it move even faster the closer it gets ?

No, Albert Einstein stated that the maximum velocity in the universe is that of light, but only electromagnetic waves can travel that speed. Nothing can travel the speed of light except light, and nothing at all can travel faster than that.

Actually, there is a theoretical partical that can travel faster but they also go backwards in time and have never been detected or proven possible.

well... what would happen if u had a train that could travel at one km/h slower than the speed of light, and then one walks from the back of the train to the front of the train, at the average human walking pace of 4km/h... would they not be going faster than the speed of light

It is you type of people that ruin the iternet. Spam somewhere else, this forum is for science discussion and if you don't like it go away.

thats great and all, but can you see the irony in that you post was off topic too, and just so that im not a hypocrite, i have thought of a somewhat more plausable situation, where faster than light travel may occur.

our sun is moving through space at a pretty decent portion of the speed of light, and we are spinning around it... if the numbers where correct, could this not lead to faster than light travel???

Very funny , but there is a key law in Einstein's calculations nothing with mass can reach the speed of light.

Why? Because the faster an object with mass moves the more resistance it will recieve so faster = more resistance so it really a vicious circle. So no Eath cannot be moving at the speed of light
