The lab test for sodium bromide is probably a flame test and with silver nitrate.

flame test for Na: a orange coloured flame
silver nitrate test for bromide ion: a cream precipitate.

As at home, the most you can do is probably a flame test. boil the water and see if you have sme solid left. Then heat the solid with the flame on your gas cooker, record the colour.
