Henry and Willie are artistic rivals and unwilling neighbors, and their uneasy peace is disturbed by the presence of Willie's white girlfriend, Irene (Byrne) and the landlord's Levespiel's attempts to evict both men and demolish the building." |

replied on: 11/22/2004 11:12:12 PM McDERMOTT RECOMMENDS SNOOP FOR DRAMATIC ROLE 23 November 2004 World Entertainment News Network Rapper SNOOP DOGG has actor DYLAN McDERMOTT to thank for his first ever dramatic leading role in the movie THE TENNANT. The 1970s-movie revolves around the relationship between McDermott's character HENRY LESSER, a Jewish writer, and Snoop's WILLIAM SPEARMINT, a back militant and aspiring author who dates a Jewish girl, played by ROSE BYRNE. McDermott, who claims he came up with the idea of casting Snoop, says, "I'm a big fan of his music - I always felt there was enormous poetry in it. Willie's character has a lot of street poetry in him, and I thought the two of them could just collide into each other. "It all comes down to authenticity. Snoop really found Willie in a deep way. He really tapped into this guy. "I knew that with a smaller movie like this one, you have to draw some attention, and I knew the casting of Snoop could do just that." Snoop, real name CALVIN BROADUS, adds, "I feel in love with this project. It's some of my best work. To me, Willie was a character I needed, particularly as far as my career was concerned." |
