Just wondering if anyone has seen Rose perform on stage? I've seen her in both La Dispute and Three Sisters with the STC. I don't think she's done any other theatre since...

Sometimes I wish I lived in Sydney...so unfortunately I haven't caught her on stage. It was interesting to read in the EW piece that Rose would like to star in a West End or Broadway production, so I guess theatre is still a passion for her.

She can always come back to the Sydney stage! Loved her in La Dispute and she was good in Three Sisters though I can't say much for that particular production. I'm not fond of it.

I would prefer to see her on stage rather than on screen. She's one of those actors who are good at both. I think that says alot about the training in this country as there are quite a number of actors who have gone on to bigger things in film or television and are great at what they do. But you see them on stage and you think, 'my god, what are they doing in film? They *belong* on that stage.' People like Rose, Jeremy Sims (my fave Aussie actor), Marcus Graham, John Adam, Rachel Griffiths, Miranda Otto, and Joel Edgerton to name a few. But I suppose you have to take the work you're offered to survive in the industry.

My dream is to see 2 of my non Aussie favourite actors on stage - Kevin Spacey and Sean Bean. I know Sean Bean has the training but I'm really curious about Kevin Spacey performing in front of an audience.

Sorry for the ramblings LOL

Ramblings are always welcome on this forum

I guess for an actor the movies is where the big bucks are, and many can make a fortune once they break it - look at Eric Bana for example. I am not an actor, so I am only guessing here, but the buzz you would get performing live on stage must be a lot bigger than performing take after take on a movie set. I guess many of the true actors with talent always retain the desire to return to the stage which is the purest form of their craft.

Haven't really been to many theatre productions at all - does taking my kids to see Hi-5 count?

Revkitty, you wouldn't by any chance have a headshot of brief bio of Rose in this stage production, would you?

Her headshot is the same pic you are using for your avatar. As for her bio, it's standard STC format - just a list of credits.

The Helmian, Welcome aboard

Very interesting! I see that entries closed 20th June, so maybe the winner will be announced soon...and excuse my ignorance (being a melbournian), but in the naked theatre company are the performances literally naked?

Well, it's not a pre-requisite to be naked in their plays, but of course this doesn't mean that they don't have any nudity. I saw the three winning plays from last year and the first one had a naked dude facing a wall and talking to God.
The top ten are being announced today (1st July). Still waiting for the phone call

Yeah I did. Thanks for the luck
I wasn't selected unfortunately, though I was in the top ten last year with a worse play
I met Rose, too.

Sorry your play wasn't selected this year, you must be very talented to have made the top ten

Wow, you met Rose?! Can you tell us about it? Just a hello and a handshake, did you have a chat?

Thanks! But there's always next year.

Yeah, I had a bit of a chat with her. She seemed quite nice, although how can you really tell in ten minutes?
She seemed either modest or indifferent regarding her own career, in that she didn't mention it once. The closest she got was saying that Two Hands is a good movie, to which I agreed.
I told her a very lame story, and she gave me her autograph, which I keep very close to my heart in my finance-folder. (sarcasm?)
Hmmm. If I see her at this year's readings, I should tell her about this website. I wonder how you'd feel having your very own fanpage with a loyal following of eight people, two of which are the same person.
I'll do that.

"Hi Rose! Do you feel loved?!"

Mu ha ha.

You could actually tell her there is a fansite that has only been running for four months, which now averages 40 hits a day, has a forum with 7 members and nearly 300 posts and over 2000 individual views.

I think Rose would be honored to have a website made just for her regardless of how many/little members it has, the fact that someone has gone to the trouble to make a website for her would be considered a big honor.
