PAT Corrigan launched an exhibition of Alice Byrne's work at the Maunsell Wickes Gallery, Woollahra, on Tuesday. Byrne's partner, Alan Jones, winner of this year's Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship was there; it's back to France for them both as she won the inaugural scholarship in 1999. Byrne-ing up: Brett's mother Beryl Whiteley; Byrne's brother George (their sister is this month's Tatler cover girl: Rose Byrne: The Hottest Lips In Hollywood); 12-week-old William Palethorp; Australian Art Review editor Ruth Hessey, who, one imagines, can hum Edith Piaf tunes backward; and a whippet of a woman named Amanda Scheiff. Near neighbour, composer Peter Sculthorpe apparently enjoyed a preview the day before.
